Fraps is an application that you can use when you play any game under DirectX, and it shows you in a corner of the screen the FPS (frames per second) which the game uses at any time.
The statistics shown to you by Fraps can also be saved in your hard drive and used later in other places. To make these calculations, Fraps uses the Flip process from DirectDraw. It also lets you take screenshots of the game or video you are playing.
Fraps also has two independent utilities that you can access via hotkeys, in addition to an option to modify the framerate of the recordings made from the same game screen. These two utilities are:
